Kennard & Co · Cheshire, England
A family business. Local honey. Brewed by hand in small batches — the way it has always been done.
Kennard & Co is a family business based in Cheshire. We brew our mead by hand, in small batches, using honey sourced directly from local Cheshire beekeepers. We cherish the character of this county in a way no commercial brand can replicate.
Every bottle is brewed and bottled by us. No factory. No shortcuts. We take the time to get it right, because that is the only way to make something genuinely worth drinking.
"Made from honey, aged by time, improved by contemplation"
— Traditional
Crafted in Cheshire
We use raw wildflower honey from Cheshire beekeepers — sourced locally because local honey has a flavour that you simply cannot get anywhere else. It reflects the fields and hedgerows of this county, and that character carries through into every bottle. We ferment slowly, bottle by hand, and do not cut corners. The result speaks for itself.
Tasting Notes
On Reading & Drinking Well
Whisky is too aggressive — a single glass and your concentration is gone. Commercial wine is too sweet, too thin, and made for a crowd rather than a quiet evening. Neither belongs beside a good book.
Mead is different. It is smooth, gently complex, and easy to drink slowly. It does not compete with what you are reading — it complements it. A glass lasts as long as a chapter. The flavour develops as the evening does. It is, quite simply, the ideal companion for serious reading.
Tolkien wrote about it. The monks who copied manuscripts by candlelight drank it. Whatever you are reading — pour a glass of Kennard & Co and settle in.
""He who drinks deeply of wisdom drinks deeply of mead"
—Inspired by stories surrounding Odin and the Mead of Poetry.
